Salmon & Sweet Potato Cat Bowl

Allergy Friendly

Ingredients

  • 1 lb salmon fillet
  • 1/4 cup cooked, mashed sweet potato
  • 1 tsp salmon oil
  • 1/4 tsp taurine powder
  • 1/4 tsp calcium carbonate
  • 100 IU vitamin E

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Poach salmon in water for 10-12 minutes until it flakes easily. Let cool, then flake and check for bones.
  2. Combine flaked salmon with mashed sweet potato.
  3. Add salmon oil, taurine, calcium carbonate, and vitamin E. Mix well.
  4. Portion into daily servings. Refrigerate up to 3 days or freeze up to 2 months.

💊 Required Supplements

Per daily serving: 1/4 tsp taurine powder, 1/4 tsp calcium carbonate, 100 IU vitamin E. Since cats are obligate carnivores, the sweet potato portion is kept very small. Add a feline complete premix for long-term feeding to ensure all nutritional requirements are met.

Nutritional Analysis

Approximately 170 kcal per 1/4 cup. Protein ~46% DM, Fat ~18% DM, Carbohydrates ~5% DM, Fiber ~1% DM. Salmon provides novel protein for cats with poultry allergies. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Minimal carbohydrate content suitable for feline biology.

🧊 Safety & Storage

Seafood recipe — refrigerate max 3 days. Freeze single portions for up to 2 months. If your cat has suspected food allergies, introduce this novel protein recipe gradually over 7-10 days while monitoring for reactions.

⚠️ Recipe Drift Warning

Salmon serves as a novel protein here — substituting with common proteins (chicken, beef) defeats the purpose for allergy management. Sweet potato is used in minimal amounts — cats are obligate carnivores and do not need carbohydrates.
