💊 Required Supplements
Per daily serving: 1/4 tsp taurine powder, 1/4 tsp calcium carbonate, 100 IU vitamin E. Cod liver oil provides natural vitamin D and omega-3s. This fish-heavy recipe may be lower in certain minerals — a feline complete premix is recommended for long-term feeding.
Nutritional Analysis
Approximately 220 kcal per 1/4 cup. Protein ~45% DM, Fat ~28% DM, Carbohydrates ~2% DM, Fiber ~0.5% DM. Exceptionally high in omega-3 fatty acids. Mackerel is one of the best natural sources of vitamin D and selenium. Eggs provide the most bioavailable protein.
🧊 Safety & Storage
Mackerel is a fatty fish and spoils quickly — refrigerate max 3 days. Freeze in single portions. Serve at room temperature. Monitor for fish allergies when introducing. Do not feed exclusively (rotate with poultry-based recipes).
⚠️ Recipe Drift Warning
Eggs provide highly digestible protein and essential amino acids. Removing or reducing eggs changes the protein quality. Mackerel is higher in fat than white fish — substituting changes the caloric density. Always supplement taurine regardless of protein source.
