Cat

Beef & Heart Organ Blend

General

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean beef stew meat, cubed
  • 2 oz beef heart, chopped
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp fish oil
  • 1/4 tsp taurine powder
  • 1/4 tsp calcium carbonate
  • 100 IU vitamin E

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Place beef stew meat and heart in a pot with water. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes until very tender.
  2. Reserve cooking liquid. Let meat cool.
  3. Place meat and 2 tbsp reserved liquid in a food processor. Process until smooth or desired consistency.
  4. Add fish oil, taurine, calcium carbonate, and vitamin E. Blend well.
  5. Portion into daily servings. Refrigerate up to 5 days or freeze up to 3 months.

💊 Required Supplements

Per daily serving: 1/4 tsp taurine powder, 1/4 tsp calcium carbonate, 100 IU vitamin E. Heart meat is naturally rich in taurine and CoQ10, but supplementation still needed. Add a feline vitamin-mineral premix for complete long-term nutrition.

Nutritional Analysis

Approximately 200 kcal per 1/4 cup. Protein ~55% DM, Fat ~15% DM, Carbohydrates ~2% DM, Fiber ~0.5% DM. Exceptionally rich in taurine, iron, zinc, and B vitamins. Heart muscle provides naturally high levels of CoQ10 for cardiovascular health.

🧊 Safety & Storage

Refrigerate up to 5 days or freeze up to 3 months. Thaw in refrigerator. Serve at room temperature. Beef heart can be tough — ensure it's cooked until very tender and well-processed. Discard uneaten food after 1 hour.

⚠️ Recipe Drift Warning

Heart meat is one of the best natural sources of taurine and CoQ10, but additional taurine supplementation is still essential for cats. Substituting beef with leaner meats changes the iron and zinc content significantly.
