Dog

Turkey & Quinoa Bowl

Weight Management

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 1 cup quinoa (uncooked)
  • 1 cup chopped green beans
  • 1/2 cup diced carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped spinach
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Rinse quinoa thoroughly under cold water to remove saponins.
  2. In a large pot, bring chicken broth to a boil. Add quinoa, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until liquid is absorbed.
  3. While quinoa cooks, brown ground turkey in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small crumbles. Cook until no pink remains, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Steam green beans and carrots until tender-crisp, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Fluff quinoa with a fork and let cool slightly.
  6. Combine cooked quinoa, turkey, steamed vegetables, and chopped spinach in a large bowl.
  7. Drizzle olive oil over the mixture and stir until evenly distributed.
  8. Allow to cool completely before serving.

🧊 Safety & Storage

Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4 days, or freeze individual portions for up to 3 months. Always thaw frozen portions in the refrigerator overnight. Wash hands and all surfaces thoroughly after handling raw poultry.

⚠️ Recipe Drift Warning

Do not substitute ground beef or pork without adjusting fat content significantly. Avoid using onion, garlic, or grapes as vegetable alternatives as these are toxic to dogs. Quinoa should not be replaced with white rice as it will alter the fiber and protein profile.
