This recipe provides approximately 180 kcal per 1/4 cup serving with a protein-to-calorie ratio suitable for growing kittens. The 45% protein on a dry matter basis supports muscle and tissue development during rapid growth phases. Fat content at 28% DM provides concentrated energy and essential fatty acids for brain development. The calcium-to-phosphorus ratio of 1.25:1 is within the recommended 1.1-1.5:1 range for skeletal development. Taurine supplementation is critical as cats cannot synthesize this amino acid and deficiency causes retinal degeneration and dilated cardiomyopathy. This recipe meets AAFCO nutrient profiles for growth when supplements are added as directed. Consult your veterinarian before switching to homemade diet and schedule regular weight checks during growth.

🧊 Safety & Storage

Refrigerate portions in airtight containers for up to 3 days. Freeze individual portions in ice cube trays for up to 3 months. Thaw frozen portions in refrigerator overnight, never at room temperature. Discard any uneaten food after 2 hours at room temperature. Wash hands and all surfaces thoroughly after handling raw meat. Always use fresh, high-quality ingredients and check for recalls.

⚠️ Recipe Drift Warning

Do not substitute chicken with beef or pork without adjusting calcium ratios. Never omit taurine as deficiency causes blindness and heart failure in cats. Do not use onion, garlic, grapes, raisins, or chocolate as these are toxic to cats. Avoid using dog vitamin supplements as they lack adequate taurine. Do not replace salmon oil with vegetable oils as cats require animal-based omega-3 fatty acids. Plant-based proteins cannot replace animal proteins in this recipe.
