Chicken & Rice Delight

General

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 1.5 cups uncooked brown rice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 1 cup chopped green beans
  • 1 cup chopped spinach
  • 4 cups water or low-sodium chicken broth

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Rinse the brown rice thoroughly under cold water.
  2. In a large pot, combine the rinsed rice and 4 cups of water or broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 35-40 minutes until tender.
  3. While the rice cooks, dice the chicken breast into small, bite-sized pieces.
  4. In a separate pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook thoroughly until no longer pink, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Steam the chopped carrots and green beans for 5-7 minutes until tender. Add the spinach in the last minute and cook until just wilted.
  6. Once the rice is cooked, let it cool slightly. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, chicken, and all the vegetables.
  7. Mix everything thoroughly to ensure an even distribution of ingredients.
  8. Allow the mixture to cool completely before serving or storing.

💊 Required Supplements

Add the following per 5 lbs of finished food: 1/2 tsp calcium carbonate powder (or 1,000mg calcium), 1/4 tsp iodized salt, 1 tsp fish oil (providing ~900mg EPA/DHA), 1/2 adult human multivitamin (crushed into powder). For a 25lb dog, multiply all values by 5: 2.5 tsp calcium carbonate, 1.25 tsp iodized salt, 5 tsp fish oil, 2.5 crushed multivitamins.
