Beef & Pumpkin Stew
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef (90% lean)
- 1 cup canned 100% pure pumpkin (not pie filling)
- 1 cup brown rice, uncooked
- 1 cup chopped carrots
- 1 cup chopped green beans
- 4 cups low-sodium beef broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped spinach
Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add the beef broth, brown rice, and olive oil to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Add the chopped carrots and green beans. Continue simmering for 15 more minutes until vegetables are tender and rice is fully cooked.
- Stir in the pumpkin and chopped spinach. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until spinach is wilted and pumpkin is well incorporated.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool completely to room temperature before serving.
- Portion into individual servings based on your dog's weight and store appropriately.

⚠️ Recipe Drift Warning
Do NOT substitute pumpkin with pumpkin pie filling, which contains toxic spices and excess sugar. Do not replace beef broth with regular or high-sodium broth, as excess sodium is dangerous for senior dogs. Avoid substituting spinach with onions, garlic, or chives, which are toxic to dogs. Do not use raw or undercooked meat. If substituting ground turkey for beef, adjust cooking time as needed and ensure the same lean ratio. Any ingredient changes may alter the nutritional balance and require recalculation of supplements.
