Beef Liver & Rice Iron-Boosting Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean beef stew meat, cubed
- 2 oz beef liver, finely chopped
- 1 cup brown rice
- 1 cup chopped spinach
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp calcium carbonate
- 200 IU vitamin E
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Cook brown rice according to package directions with 2 cups water.
- While rice cooks, brown beef cubes in a pot over medium-high heat. Add water to cover and simmer for 20 minutes until tender.
- In the last 5 minutes, add chopped beef liver to the pot and cook until just done (do not overcook liver as it becomes tough).
- Add spinach and cook for 2 minutes until wilted.
- Combine meat mixture with cooked rice. Add olive oil, calcium carbonate, and vitamin E.
- Cool completely. Portion into daily servings. Refrigerate up to 5 days or freeze up to 3 months.
💊 Required Supplements
Per daily serving: 1/2 tsp calcium carbonate, 200 IU vitamin E. Liver is naturally rich in iron and vitamin A, but don't add extra vitamin A supplementation as liver already provides adequate amounts. Add a balanced premix for long-term feeding.
Nutritional Analysis
Approximately 490 kcal per cup. Protein ~34% DM, Fat ~16% DM, Carbohydrates ~32% DM, Fiber ~3% DM. Exceptionally rich in iron, vitamin A, vitamin B12, and copper. Liver provides natural sources of these nutrients in highly bioavailable forms.
🧊 Safety & Storage
Do not feed liver more than 2 oz per 1 lb of meat — excessive liver can cause vitamin A toxicity. Refrigerate up to 5 days or freeze up to 3 months. Serve at room temperature.
⚠️ Recipe Drift Warning
Liver content must not exceed 5% of the total recipe weight to avoid vitamin A toxicity. If substituting beef liver with chicken liver, the vitamin A content differs significantly. Do not replace liver with other organ meats without recalculating nutrient profiles.
