Basic Chicken & Vegetable Starter

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup finely grated carrot
  • 1/2 cup chopped spinach
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp calcium carbonate
  • 200 IU vitamin E
  • 1/4 tsp taurine powder (essential for cats)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Cook chicken thighs in water for 15-20 minutes until tender. Shred or dice finely.
  2. Lightly steam spinach for 2 minutes. Grate carrot finely.
  3. Combine chicken, carrot, and spinach in a bowl.
  4. Add olive oil, calcium carbonate, and vitamin E. For cats, add taurine powder.
  5. For dogs: serve as is. For cats: blend in a food processor for smooth texture.
  6. Cool completely. Portion and refrigerate up to 5 days or freeze up to 3 months.

For dogs: 1/2 tsp calcium carbonate and 200 IU vitamin E per daily serving. For cats: add 1/4 tsp taurine powder. A complete vitamin-mineral premix appropriate for each species is recommended for long-term feeding.
