Why Fish and Sweet Potato?

Fish provides omega-3 fatty acids that support skin health and a glossy coat, while sweet potatoes offer fiber and vitamins. This recipe is perfect for cats with dry skin or dull fur.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (150g) cooked salmon or mackerel, deboned and flaked
  • 1/2 cup (100g) cooked sweet potato, mashed
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) fish oil (or salmon oil)
  • 1/4 teaspoon taurine powder (essential for cats)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) water or low-sodium chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Cook fish by baking or poaching until fully cooked. Remove all bones and skin, then flake.
  2. Bake or boil sweet potato until soft, then mash.
  3. In a bowl, combine fish, mashed sweet potato, fish oil, and taurine powder.
  4. Add water or broth and mix until desired consistency (cats prefer pâté-like texture).
  5. Let cool completely before serving.

Feeding Guidelines

For an average adult cat (10 lbs), serve about 1/4 cup per meal, twice daily. Adjust portion size based on your cat's weight and activity. Refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.

Important: Cats require taurine from their diet; never skip the supplement. Consult your vet before feeding homemade meals exclusively.
